The grapes were grown by Bruce McCormack in Rosevears in the West Tamar Valley of Tasmania. A single site with nine rows of 20-year-old Pinot Gris grape vines. The grapes are handpicked and made locally at Utzinger Wines in Legana.
This wine was fermented and stored in two French oak barrels, aged 5 and 6 years, adding complexity to the wine without forward oak characters.
This Pinot Gris is elegant and full bodied, displaying lifted aromatics of ripened pear. The somewhat atypical bronze colour of the wine is intentionally extracted from the grapes by extended time on skins.
Drink lightly chilled to allow the delicate fruit flavours to develop.
